We are looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to supervise an 8-month warehouse refurbishment and upgrade program, in six locations across DRC (BENI, BUKAVU, BUNIA, GOMA, KINSHASA, and UVIRA). You will act as client representative and oversee the main contractor (and subcontractors), and construction procedures and ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner. The ideal candidate must be well-versed in all construction methodologies and procedures and will have an analytical mind and great organizational skills. The goal will be to ensure project (across its different locations) is delivered on time according to requirements and without exceeding budget.
Key Responsibilities would include:
- Manage, plan, and supervise resources and subcontractors for the flawless execution of multiple projects, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Ensure that project, in its different locations, is delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget.
- Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant internal stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
- Comply with project plan and monitor and track progress.
- Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
- Measure performance using appropriate project management tools and techniques.
- Report and escalate to management as needed.
- Manage the relationship with the client and relevant stakeholders.
- Perform risk management to minimize potential risks.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Meet with clients to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project.
- Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals.
- Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis.
- Use and continually develop leadership skills.
- Attend training as required to maintain proficiency.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Develop spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document needs.
- Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports.
Requirements
To be considered for the role, you must have/ be:
- Proven working experience in construction management (minimum 10 years).
- Proven working experience in warehouses construction / refurbishment.
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) / PRINCE II certification is a plus.
- Experience in managing FIDIC contracts.
- Familiar with UN procedures (desirable).
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or any other appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience.
- In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles.
- Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards.
- A team player with leadership abilities.
- Available for extensive internal (Democratic Republic of Congo) travelling
- Fluent in French and English.
